Goal:
Balance the body shape by calling attention to the upper body, visually minimising the hips and maintaining the waistline definition of the curvy silhouette.
Wear:
- Clothes that fit your hips and have the waistline taken in if necessary
- Tops and jackets that finish above or below the widest part of your hips
- Skimming styles rather than tight fitting or too loose bottoms
- Darker and duller colours on the bottom
- Tops that hit at your hip bone or tuck them in
- Tops, sweaters and jackets with embellishments such as big collars, lace trims and ruffles
- Shirts or sweaters tucked in
- Fitted and nipped tops
- Tops in bright colours, bold patterns, stripes, with details and embellishments
- Necklines including, v-necks, square, bateau, sabrina, scoop, crew and cowl
- Bright colours, printed tops
- Pieces that can be layered
- Tops and jackets that finish above or below the widest part of your hips
Avoid:
- Tops that cover the hips
- Bells and whistles or any embellishments on your bottoms
- Details, patterns, pockets on your thigh and hip area and belts on your hips
- Skinny and tight bottoms that emphasise the wide hips
