Shape/Silhouette: Hourglass

Goal:
Follow the body’s naturally balanced silhouette by proportionally dressing the top and bottom of the body while accentuating the waist. Note: If you have a bit of a tummy fullness- focus on side seams and back darts to define your waist instead of having them in the front.

Wear:
Tops tucked in
Belts, providing they are not too wide
Jackets, shirts and dresses that have darts, waistline tucks or princess seams
Skirts and pants that sit just below your natural waist rather than low on the hips
Necklines including, scoop, crew, off shoulder, sweetheart and V-neck necklines
Sleeves that are fitted rather than loose
Fitted tops & jackets with waist definition
Pencil, straight & ruched skirts
Tapered & straight leg trousers
Dresses with waist definition, like ruched, belted or wrap.
Styles that hug your hips and mid or high rise cuts to elongate your legs
High mid or high rise pants/ jeans
Detailed waistbands

Avoid:
Fabrics that add bulk and hide your curves- look for fabrics that drape nicely
Boxy, oversized blazers, jackets and tops
Asymmetric and square necklines
