About the Founder

Hi, I am Tanya and live with my blended family in Toronto, Canada.

Certified as an Image Consultant from the New York Fashion Institute of Technology, with over 20 years of experience in education, I am excited to combine my skills and passion for fashion to help women look and feel their best-at any age.

As we age or go through life’s changes, we may start to question our wardrobe and style. My goal is to inspire self expression through apparel, and ultimately bring joy to getting dressed everyday. Sharing style tips and tricks, I will help you take the guesswork out of putting outfits together which will allow more time for the people and things you love.

Our Mission

We make getting dressed easy and fun for women and help them build and maintain smaller wardrobes, built around items they love that suit their body and style.

Story Behind Our Name

Like our company VERI PERI, the colour Very Peri was created in 2022. Tanya, the founder, was taking the class Colour for Wardrobe Planning and this new colour was being discussed. It was then that VERI PERI was born.  It is a colour name that the Pantone Colour Institute created from the blue violet families. The colour exudes serenity, beauty and joy. In fashion colour theory, it is considered a universal colour, an all inclusive colour that looks great on most people, no matter your skin tone or hair colour.

Know Better, Do Better

I love the quote by Maya Angelou “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." I believe these are words to live by. I changed my shopping and buying habits once I started to learn more about the negative impact fashion can have on people and the environment.

What is sustainable fashion?

Sustainable fashion is a broad term that encompasses consideration for people, animals and the environment as it relates to the production and manufacturing of clothing. We can all take steps to make better choices for ourselves, the earth and the people and animals we share it with.

Our Sustainability Contribution

We can all make small changes for the better. In July 2022, VERI PERI  joined 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of annual sales to support nonprofit organizations focused on the environment.

We use recyclable packaging. This means the envelopes and boxes our products arrive in can be placed in your curbside bin or reused for other purposes.

At VERI PERI we prefer to select a smaller number of styles that we feel will become staples in your closet that you will wear season after season. Items you can rewear and restyle. Many items will not be restocked as items are ordered months in advance in small batches so make sure to scoop them up while they last!

As VERI PERI  continues to grow, giving back and sustainability will always remain a core company value.

There is not one way to make a difference. Here are some examples of sustainable fashion practices:

Vegan and Cruelty-Free

In vegan and cruelty free clothing, no fur, leather, feathers, wool, silk or any other animal-based fibres are used.  Animal welfare and the negative environmental impact of the fur trade and animal agriculture are priorities.

Thrifting, Swapping, Renting

Before you buy something new, consider whether you can purchase it second hand, borrow from a friend or rent it. This is especially great for trendy items or items you might only wear one on  special occasion.

Upcycling

Re-fashioning existing clothing items, mending and tailoring as needed, and making alterations to modernise the looks of current pieces to match your current tastes or fashion trends.

Buy Less, Wear More

Choose your items well and wear them more often. Choose timeless and seasonaless items that can be worn over and over. Prioritise durable, high quality clothes you know you'll wear throughout the years. Creating small capsule wardrobes that can be mixed and matched are great ways to get more wear out of your wardrobe.

Conscious Fashion/Your Own Values

What matters  to you? You may want to support a brand that donates to causes aligned with your values, or purchase vegan fashion or clothing made locally or clothing made with low impact, natural and organic materials or uses eco-friendly dyes, and/or zero- or low-waste designs. You choose how you will make a difference by what matters most to you.

Taking Care of our Clothing

Prolonging the life of your clothes by taking good care of them can make a big, positive difference since much of the environmental impact (e.g., water and energy use) from our clothes’ life-cycles may come from this care-taking stage. Wash less often, use cold water and hang  to dry. Sometimes our clothes might need just a little airing out or a spritz with vinegar or water to eliminate bacteria. Mending holes and spot cleaning stains are other ways to keep your clothing out of the landfill for longer.

Slow Fashion

Slow Fashion is the opposite of fast fashion. It takes into consideration all aspects of the supply chain. More time is spent on the design process creating timeless high quality pieces.

Ethical Labour Practices

Focuses on reducing harm to people working along the supply chain and creates a better future for everyone.

Eco-Friendly

Fabrics are  made from organic fibres grown without the use toxic pesticides. Clothing is  made from recycled textiles and made without the use of certain harmful chemicals, dyes or bleaches.
