Shape/Silhouette: Triangle

Shape/Silhouette: Triangle

If your shoulders are narrower than your hips your silhouette is a triangle.

Goal:

Balance the body shape by calling attention to the upper body, visually minimising the hips and maintaining the waistline definition of the curvy silhouette.

Wear:

  • Clothes that fit your hips and have the waistline taken in if necessary
  • Tops and jackets that finish above or below the widest part of your hips
  • Skimming styles rather than tight fitting or too loose bottoms
  • Darker and duller colours on the bottom
  • Tops that hit at your hip bone or tuck them in
  • Tops, sweaters and jackets with embellishments such as big collars, lace trims and ruffles
  • Shirts or sweaters tucked in
  • Fitted and nipped tops
  • ‍Tops in bright colours, bold patterns, stripes, with details and embellishments
  • Necklines including, v-necks, square, bateau, sabrina, scoop, crew and cowl
  • Bright colours, printed tops
  • Pieces that can be layered
  • Tops and jackets that finish above or below the widest part of your hips

Avoid:

  • Tops that cover the hips
  • Bells and whistles or any embellishments on your bottoms
  • Details, patterns, pockets on your thigh and hip area and belts on your hips
  • Skinny and tight bottoms that emphasise the wide hips
